Katelyn Best

I'm a writer, journalist, and editor in Portland, Oregon. My interests are wide-ranging, and include soccer, language, pop culture, and history. More than anything, I like telling intruiging, unexpected stories about real people and the worlds they live in. My work has appeared in Portland Monthly, NWSL.com, FourFourTwo USA, and The Toast. I'm a contributing editor at Stumptown Footy and regular writer for The Whiskey Wash.

I'm also experienced with copyediting, fact-checking, and publishing QA; I have a rigorous mindset and a sharp eye for detail.

On weekends, I co-host the podcast Can You Get to That? with my friend Mat Olson. I like to pick up weights, walk in the woods, and play soccer poorly. Sometimes I build bikes.
